Grown Up and Me Preschool Coding

As parents, we all want to give our children the best start in life and prepare them for the future. One skill that is becoming increasingly important in today's world is logical thinking. Logical thinking means understanding sequence, cause and effect, and the ability to visualize outcomes. The "Grown Up and Me Preschool Coding" program offered by theCoderSchool of Sarasota is the perfect way to help your preschooler develop this vital skill.

At an early age, children’s minds learn at an incredible rate. They are “hard wired” to try new things and explore their world. It’s our job as parents is to feed that hunger for new information. You may have taught your infant sign language to help them communicate their needs, or filled your home with colorful shapes to give them bright points of interest. Everywhere we take our little ones is a learning adventure. Going to grandma’s? Her house is a new maze with interesting smells and tastes. Taking a stroll around the block? Your kiddo is learning about nature, hearing the birds sing and feeling the warmth of the sun.

In today’s world, those early learning adventures need to include learning about tech, and not just how to use it, but how it works. A computer is, basically, a logic machine. Even though preschoolers may not be ready to build a website, they are ready to learn logic. For preschool aged children, repetition is key to learning and learning logic requires not only repetition, but also consistent results. There has recently been an explosion of toys designed specifically for this purpose. Everything from card decks of logic puzzles, to science kits that focus on building and coding robots.

These toys and robots can be great tools for setting your child on the path to problem solving and thinking in logical steps, but there is one caveat. They require  the help of a grown-up who can patiently show the youngster how to get started as well as play along with them as their problem solving skills become more sophisticated. That’s why, after a bit of research, the owners of theCoderSchool of Sarasota have begun a new program for parents – or siblings or grandparents – to sit with their preschooler and learn while playing in a safe and comfortable environment.

The program is different from theCoderSchool’s normal lessons for kids 7-18 and is  designed specifically for preschoolers aged 3-5 years old. Preschoolers and their grown-ups are instructed through different activities using the "Tale-Bot" coding robot.  Grown-ups see how to make learning fun and interactive, and the kids have a blast learning to make Tale-Bot follow their commands. By participating in the program, children will learn how to think critically and creatively, which will aid them in their academic development. They will program the ‘bot to answer questions correctly, tell stories and even play songs. “Grown Up and Me Preschool Coding” also helps preschoolers solve problems logically, step by step, and understand cause and effect in their daily lives. These skills will be beneficial for them as they grow and face new challenges.

theCoderSchool of Sarasota gives children a head start in the ever-evolving field of technology. Now, they’re helping your kids get an even earlier start by introducing preschoolers to the basics of coding and showing them understand how technology works. Learning to code at a young age can open up a world of possibilities for children in terms of future career opportunities. The tech industry is growing rapidly and becoming a major part of every other industry as well, so it's important to give children the opportunity to explore this field.
