Monster Jam: 2019's Main Smash Hit!

By Ashley Bowder January 20, 2019

My family and I recently got to see the 2019 Monster Jam show and it was so much fun, I thought I'd share our experience with everyone!  Believe it or not, this was actually our first time attending Monster Jam and I didn't really know what to expect, especially since I have two girly girls, however it was a huge success and one of our favorite events ever.

When you go, you can book tickets for the Pit Party in addition to the main show.  We decided to attend the Pit Party to check out the monster trucks up close and personal.  This is a great opportunity to stand next to the trucks, get some fun pictures and even get some autographs!  The Pit Party had lots of interactive kids activities, we spent a good amount of time driving mini monster trucks through the kids sand pit!  A highlight of the Pit Party was seeing the whole crew from the show Diesel Brothers.  The Diesel Brothers had their own monster truck there, The Brodozer, which was pretty cool to see. My husband loves that show, so that was really fun for him, too!  Another highlight of the Pit Party was the Motocross stunt show, it was wild, daring and very entertaining- everyone loved it!

After the Pit Party was over at 5:30pm most everyone heads back to their cars and tail gates until the main show begins at 7:00pm.  I highly recommend making a day out of the event by going to the Pit Party, then grill out with friends while you wait for the show to start, and then head to the show together.  A big part of the experience is tailgating with friends in between shows.

The show, the venue, what to expect...  The show- expect loud, they hand out ear-plugs so that should be your first hint!  If you have little ones, you may choose to bring noise barrier head phones.  My youngest is two years old and she was fine without.  Expect lots of excitement and action!  The show is broken up into 3 sessions:  timed race course, skills challenge, and freestyle.  In the skills challenge, drivers show off their best two wheel stunts, it's harder than it looks!  Each section of the show is non-stop action!  There is an intermission so you'll  have a chance to refuel without missing a thing.  The venue we attended in Tampa, was the Raymond James Stadium.  Here are a few things to expect with little ones and in general:  it is a "clear bag stadium," so be prepared for that.  You will not be allowed to bring in a diaper bag or snacks.  Bring a gallon sized ziplock with you.  HERE are the guidelines for the "clear bag" policy.  No strollers are allowed either, so expect to flex those strong "mom carrying toddler muscles" at any time those toddler legs give up!

When asked what her favorite part of Monster Jam was, my five year old girl said, "Watching Rosalee because she was really awesome and her truck was just so cute!"  Rosalee Ramer was one of the only few female drivers, her driving skills and truck Wild Flower brought girl power to a whole new level.

Monster Jam was the perfect way to kick off 2019, the show is filled with lots of excitement and is really fun for the whole family!
