Win 4 Tickets to Alice with a Twist at FST!

January 18, 2017

Alice with A Twist hits the stage in Bowne’s Lab on Saturdays starting January 21! Performances will take place on January 21 and 28 at 11:00am and February 4 and 11 at 11:00am.  Follow Alice down the rabbit hole and into Wonderland in this interactive improvised twist on the classic children’s story. What kooky characters will she meet along the way? How will she find her way out of Wonderland? YOU decide. Created in the spirit of “Choose Your Own Story” theatre, this show is an opportunity for your child to be a part of Alice's adventure!

This is the third show of the inaugural Children’s Theatre series at Florida Studio Theatre. The final show of the series will be The Dragon Vs. The Hiccups and Other Winning Plays. The other shows in the series can be purchased as a subscription for only $15! That equates to $5/ticket! Caroline Kaiser, Director of Children’s Theatre, shares her inspiration behind such a unique show. “It was important to me to include an improvised and immersive show in our first Children's Theatre season. I really want to expand audiences' idea of what children's theatre can be. So often theatre is presented as a time where you have to sit still and be quiet which for many children, and actually many adults, can take a lot of the fun out of the experience. However, in Alice with a Twist we throw those rules out, and encourage everyone to engage with the actors, give suggestions, and join in the fun. In Improv, like in life, anything can happen! It charges the room with the energy of excitement.  It encourages us all to live in the moment, because anything can be around the bend in Wonderland.”

Directing this improvised adventure is FST’s own Director of Improvisation Will Luera. “Alice with a Twist will not just be an improvised version of Alice in Wonderland, but an immersive one as well. Alice in Wonderland is perfect for this type of show because of the world Lewis Carroll created in the original book. I personally believe that it’s a world that can’t be contained to a standard stage. It is a world that needs to be experienced as viscerally as possible which is why I think that Alice with a Twist will be such a unique theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.”
