Deck The Halls! hits the stage in Bowne’s Lab on Saturdays starting December 10! Performances will take place on December 10 and 17 at 11:00am and December 24 at 11:00am and 1:00pm. The holidays are hotter than ever in Florida. Get in the holiday spirit with FST- Florida style. Join us as we deck the palms with boughs of holly and have a very sandy Christmas! In this brand new interactive children’s show full of favorite carols, festive sketches, and family fun we will celebrate everything that makes the holidays in Sarasota special!
This is the second show of the inaugural Children’s Theatre series at Florida Studio Theatre. Upcoming shows include Alice With A Twist and The Dragon Vs. The Hiccups. All three remaining shows in the series can be purchased as a subscription for only $15! That equates to $5/ticket! Caroline Kaiser, Director of Children’s Theatre, expresses her excitement. “Patrick Jackson and I had a great time creating Deck the Halls together. We knew that we wanted to celebrate what makes the holidays in Sarasota great, but it wasn’t until we came upon the idea of a variety show that the script crystalized for us. We aimed to create a show that harkens back to the TV holiday specials, variety hours, and my personal childhood favorite: The Muppet Show. The show is truly a family experience, meant to entertain adults and children alike, and get us all in the holiday spirit.”
Directing Deck The Halls! is Associate Artist Jason Cannon. “Directing a holiday celebration show is actually a new experience for me! Luckily I’ve got some terrifically talented colleagues who wrote a script that swings gleefully from ridiculous to adorable to outright silly to truly heartfelt. And I’ve got some eager and energetic acting apprentices who bring these elves to boisterous life. Frankly at this point I pretty much just sit at my table and giggle as they cavort and sing and rap and tell stories. I’m excited to be part of this new Saturday Series that will enable families to experience live theatre together, and especially to add a new holiday tradition to our community!”
