Macaroni Kid Sarasota-Venice Checked Out LEGOLAND!

By Jaime Helton October 26, 2016

My family recently had the opportunity to visit LEGOLAND in Orlando! And...everything is AWESOME! (If you don’t get the reference, your child hasn’t watched “The LEGO Movie” 450 times in a row.)

The details that went into creating LEGOLAND are incredible. You walk up to the entrance that’s big enough and bright enough to get any kid (LEGO fan or otherwise) excited. The arches, the huge dinosaurs made entirely out of LEGOs, the giant LEGO blocks - after seeing all of this even I was pumped!

My son was most excited about all of the LEGO figurines around the park. Getting to see Emmet and Wyldstyle from “The LEGO Movie” in real life? I’m pretty sure that made us the coolest parents ever.

LEGOLAND has so many attractions I’m not sure where to start! There are more than 50 rides, shows, and attractions designed for ages 2 to 12. Plus there’s a Duplo-themed area for kids under 2 years old that features different toddler-friendly play areas.

One ride that was a HUGE hit with my little guy was the Grand Carousel in the center of Fun Town. This double decker carousel has horses and benches for kids of all ages to ride. Another fun ride was the Safari Trek. On this particular ride little ones cruise around in a car on a track trying to spot their favorite LEGO animals. An added bonus? My 4 year totally thought he was driving a car and loved it! I was pleasantly surprised by the number of rides at LEGOLAND! There’s kid friendly roller coasters, boats, a driving school, and even “Island in the Sky”- a 150 foot rotating platform that lets you check out the whole park.

As a mom one thing I’m interested in when we go to different theme parks is the dining options.  When my little one gets hungry (or admittedly, when I get a little hangry..) I don’t want to have to search high and low for a place to eat. LEGOLAND has A LOT of options. We stumbled upon LEGO City Burger Kitchen. What was really great about this restaurant was its construction theme. It definitely made it easier to convince my little boy to take a break from the rides and fun long enough to refuel. LEGOLAND also features different stops around the park for sandwiches, pizza, ice cream, apple fries, fried chicken, and more.

Obviously with a name like LEGOLAND there are LOTS of LEGO creations throughout the park! Some are already made, but there are plenty of opportunities for you to build too. Be sure to check out Miniland USA where you can see LEGO creations built by Master Model Builders. There’s Washington DC, New York, ships that spray water, Daytona Speedway, a space shuttle that launches, and more! You can also bring minifigures to trade. Stop a LEGOLAND Model Citizen (an employee) to trade your minifigure for one they have on their name tag.

What I really like about LEGOLAND is that if I bring my boys back in a year or two, it will be a totally different experience for them. There are rides and attractions for all different age ranges. I look forward to doing it all over again!

My family received free tickets to visit LEGOLAND. All opinions are my own.
